Quiescence
yen-yaw: Silence is the doctor. When the mind is quiet, only space remains. Comfort in the sound of the noiseless: we abase ourselves in it. The whisper of the tide of the ocean makes our skin crawl. Sand comforts our exhalations and our inhalations. When the moon rises, we are in it. Silence is the moment.

e,
The sirens were wailing, there wasn’t much time. I grabbed Sam by the hood and shook him a bit. He staggered up from the pavement wiping the pistol on his sweater sleeve, the black paint smudged on the fabric. Lex was already in the car and everything else, to me, was a blur. Somehow, the firearm vanished, the vehicle faded, and the lights were liquid, pouring out horizontal streams into the...

been a minute
I’ve been writing and its really exciting—Its what I think of most of the day now. And its not forced anymore, it just happens. I can stop and pick up again a few days later and even edit, rewrite and it doesn’t discourage me, the result is always better.  Kind of miss tumblng and reblogging or just writing long posts but that interferes with the writing I should be focusing on....

U U / U U / U U / U U
HER LEGS PUT ME TO SLEEP THE BED FEELS LIKE A BIG MOUTH CHEWING ME AWAKE, SPITTING OUT EVERY CHANCE TO SLEEP IT CAN DETECT. THE WIND SOUNDS LIKE ITS ANGRY AT ME, HOWLING, STIRRING THE LATE NIGHT INTO TEMPEST—PRESSING AGAINST MY DOORS AND WINDOWS WITH ANXIOUS TREMORS.

Friday Night Pancakes and a Film
MEMORY IS WASTED ON MEMORIES The last time I saw Noah Baumbach’s film Greenberg, was when it was in theatres back in 2010. Watching it again tonight was weird because I remembered the film much differently. Having seen it only once doesn’t help but I could’ve sworn that certain parts of the story have changed since the last viewing; or certain themes have altered in relevance....

Le Boheme
For example this wine, how do I pronounce this…Le Boheme? Le Boheme. Oh, okay Le Boheme, like “poem” but with a “B”? No, the “H” is silent. I didn’t pronounce the “H”…Boheme. Yes you did…you gave it attention, listen…Boheme, Boheme… Boam? Balm?  No, listen…Boheme…you’re excluding the...

On the Freedom of Will and its Influence of Power
Peter Liao in responding to a blog comment on By Way of Beauty that argued free will is non-existent left the following:  Our will is indeed free. You can very easily will yourself to become an elephant; the fact that you do not actually become an elephant is not a restriction of your will but rather a limitation of the influence on your will outside of your mind. This is a limitation not on the...

The Plateau Effect
Radiohead & Shabazz Palaces: Plateau Effect October 8, 2011 by willwindow (from Happy Mortal) Ever since James Blake dropped his self titled LP, I have been arranging and re-arranging my best albums of 2011 list. Amidst the tinkering, I discovered a captivating phenomenon in some of my favorite records. I call this the “plateau effect” (with apologies to Gilles Deleuze). I noticed the...

FLASHBACK TO AN ANCIENT BREAK-UP We’re on the phone, long-distance. She’s crying, I’m not saying very much and I want very badly to hang up. Once I hang up I won’t have to deal with her and I can go on with my life. She kept saying she was disappointed in me and that its not fair because we hadn’t even been dating for that long, that I didn’t even give...
